August 20, 2021message re: moving to virtual format

On April 1, 2020, the Collaborative Sciences Center for Road Safety notified NaTMEC attendees that the conference in June was being postponed due to COVID-19. This message is an update regarding plans for the next NaTMEC.

After surveying NaTMEC participants, close examination of budget scenarios, and thinking critically about the state of live events moving into 2021, the NaTMEC planning committee made the tough decision to pivot NaTMEC into a completely virtual event to be held June 21-25, 2021. The safety and well-being of NaTMEC attendees, vendors, and staff is paramount, and moving the event into a virtual format allows the important learning and sharing of NaTMEC to continue in a new method of delivery.

In addition to the 2021 all-virtual event, NaTMEC is partnering with the Institute of Transportation Engineers on a series of free webinars to continue the learning and dialogue surrounding multimodal traffic monitoring programs. The first webinar, "Pedestrian Safety, Travel Monitoring, and Relating the Two," will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2020, starting at 2:00 p.m. EDT. Click here for more information and to register.

Much more information, including programming details, is still to come as logistics are finalized. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these new details during this unprecedented time.

Please note: We will be reaching out to NaTMEC vendors separately to work out additional details.

NaTMEC 2022 is still on schedule to be an in-person event in Idaho.

Please stay tuned for more information. If you have specific questions, please email natmechost@gmail.com.

April 22 message re: refunds

For registered attendees

On April 1, we notified NaTMEC attendees that the conference in June was being postponed due to COVID-19. This message is an update related to refunds for paid registration fees.

NaTMEC refund details: We are moving forward with canceling all conference registrations and automatically issuing full refunds to all paid attendees by credit card or check (depending on the original form of payment).

April 1 message re: postponement

It is with disappointment that the Collaborative Sciences Center for Road Safety announces that NaTMEC 2020 is officially postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The safety and well-being of NaTMEC speakers, vendors, attendees and event staff is paramount. After discussions with the NaTMEC planning committee, the Federal Highway Administration, the North Carolina Department of Transportation and others, it became clear that this is the best decision. The current thinking is to reschedule NaTMEC for June 2021 in Raleigh, NC.

After this initial round of postponement notifications, we will provide additional information re: next steps for registered attendees, exhibitors and sponsors (including how to request refunds); anticipated affects to the overall program; and a plethora of other details that are currently being worked out. Such updates will be communicated via email, on the NaTMEC website and via CSCRS’s Twitter and Facebook platforms (please follow those accounts if you aren’t already). Many questions will arise due to this change of plans; thank you for your patience and please rest assured that we are working hard to come up with solutions that will work for everyone.

One immediate action that is needed: Please cancel any existing hotel reservations. Specific instructions are included below to cancel your reservation at one of the two NaTMEC 2020 host hotels.

·       Raleigh Marriott City Center: Please use your confirmation number to cancel your reservation online.

·       Holiday Inn Raleigh Downtown: The hotel will cancel your reservation for you, but please confirm that you receive a notification. Please call 855-914-1878 if you have any questions.

If you booked at any other property, please cancel those arrangements yourself and mention that the meeting is not being held because of COVID-19 (which may help you get out of any agreements if needed).

Thinking creatively about remote learning opportunities: While holding an entirely remote event is not practical for this four day, 100+ session event, we are exploring potential ways to creatively offer content virtually (with PDH credits) to build momentum for a June 2021 meeting date. Stay tuned for more on these efforts on NaTMEC.org, via email and social media.

And last but not least, we are grateful for the many exhibitors and sponsors who committed to NaTMEC in 2020. Thank you! We look forward to working with each of you to determine interest in participating in a June 2021 event.

Please stay tuned for more information to come. If you have specific questions, please email natmechost@gmail.com.
